The Motorman reports to the Engine Room Operator/ Assistant Technical Section Leader. Responsibilities: Complete Daily Lubrication oil, chemical stock and Fresh water maker log ensuring all information is comprehensive and accurately recorded
Respond to alarms on the engine alarm panel as requid, logging all alarms and action taken. Be familiar with the location and operation of all ventilation and fire fighting equipment onboard the unit. Checking and maintaining oil, water and fuel levels of all mechanical equipment within machinery spaces Stop and start machinery as required by Engine Room Operator. Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness is maintained throughout the machinery spaces. Be familiar with all equipment and machinery spaces within his area of responsibility, carrying out efficient machinery watch keeping and maintenance as per Planned Maintenance. Monitor prime movers and associate machinery.
Carry out tasks assigned in a safe and efficient manner. Requirements: Should have undertaken some form of formal technical training. Should have served in a similar position for a number of years and be familiar with all aspects of engine room equipment and watch keeping duties. Hold a valid health certificate. Must have good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written. Keep the Engine Room Operator informed as to status of machinery.
