DESCRIPTION OF ROLE The Assistant Deck Foreman is responsible for assisting the Deck Foreman with the preparation and deployment of all project equipment, under the overall direction of the Shift Supervisor. This includes the co-ordination of all project deck crew and Crane Operator(s) and for ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with procedures, and in a safe manner.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist the Deck Foreman as directed. Ensure an effective shift handover including any safe work procedures and explanation of current working conditions. Report any defects (or potential defects) in equipment or any doubts about the safety of the operation immediately to the Deck Foreman and/or Shift Supervisor. Check equipment to ensure that it is safe to use and correctly set in accordance with checklists provided. Progress workscope as directed and in accordance with the relevant Task Plans and Approved Procedures. Assist in maintenance and/or repair of support equipment as required. Understand and take proactive participation in project risk assessments. Maintain all projects rigging in use. Ensure all certification is maintained and suitable for use by project. Ensure all project equipment on deck is sea-fastened and secured. Control all lifting operations in accordance with procedures Ensure all lifting equipment and rigging is certified. Update and fill out monthly Pre-Use Rigging check list. Assist in launch and recovery of Trencher, PLETs and other project equipment. Responsible for deck safety and personnel involved in deck operations. Delegate riggers to assist in deck operations including mooring of VSL. PERSON SPECIFICATION
Professional qualification in an appropriate discipline is desirable Recognised Rigging Certificate Safety Supervisor Training
